The New Erskine Stewart Melville Uniform
We are pleased to share a first look at the Erskine Stewart Melville main uniform – please view the designs here  and below.

Sixth Form Officers

The new designs reflect extensive collaboration across our community, including contributions from current and former students, parents, and staff. We held over 14 focus groups, and over 900 families responded to one of the uniform surveys. A huge thanks to all who engaged in the process. The designs retain key elements of our shared heritage while aligning with the values of our School today.
Things to note while looking at the designsÂ
- The digital design book below showcases the final uniform designs, but the full uniform policy (availability and pricing) will be shared in the spring, ahead of the next academic year.
- The designs relate to the main uniform only; PE and sportswear designs will be shared at a later date.
- We are still considering how to incorporate recognition for student achievements, such as national-level performance, into the new uniform.
- For P1-S5, the only items you will be required to buy new for August 2026 are blazers and ties, and for S6 School Officers, new red blazers. All other S6 students have the option to wear their current blazer and tie. All other items are being phased in. A reminder of this plan can be found here.
- We have reduced the number of required items to make the uniform easier to manage. To ensure inclusivity, students may choose the items that best suit them from all the uniform options in their year group.
- We recognise that affordability is an important consideration for our families, and we are working with Stevensons to keep costs as low as possible, without compromising on quality or durability.
Plans for the existing uniformÂ
Our aim is to ensure all uniform items that are no longer needed are repurposed, recycled, or disposed of responsibly. We are currently gathering information about the volume of items that will require redistribution. A cross-school working group was brought together to develop a plan for managing these retired items.
So far, this is what we know:
- Retired sports kit will be donated to our partner schools in Malawi as they find the sport items to be useful.
Stevensons has confirmed that they will also donate any unsold sports kit to our preferred organisation(s). - The Thrift Shop team has been researching ways to sustainably recycle the pure wool blazers.
- The Thrift Shop regularly donates any items in good condition that we cannot sell to the Uniform Bank and other charities.
- As we phase in the new uniform, the Thrift Shop will continue to accept and stock the current uniform items allowed for 2026/2027.
- We will also continue to carry any unbranded items in our Thrift Shop that are used by the School – eg Shoes, football boots, wet suits, warm weather gear, etc.
- All items that cannot be sold, donated, or repurposed will be brought to clothing recycling points.
The new uniform is a huge part of our School identity, and it is wonderful to see it all coming to life. A huge thank you to you all for your thoughtful input. We will continue to keep you updated as we finalise PE and sportswear later this year.
